I kept all the old sash windows and decided to make them into mirrors for my home. The above is one I have finished and I absolutely love it, what do you think?

We came across this Vintage Pattern Making Shop Sign out and about on one of our qwerky shopping trips. When we started qwerky, old signs were our favourite pieces so it’s always a delight to come across sign that are a little different.

Signs always add some interest to any room in your home, this one would be perfect for a bedroom!

Today I want to write about a store and person that has inspired me so much over the last 2 years, Mary, the co-  owner of Heather Brae.

Heather Brae’s sells antiques and vintage pieces that are truly unique for your home and garden.  It is run by two women Mary and Jane who met one day at the school gate. Mary being the person that has continued to inspire me since I have set up qwerky. I stumbled upon Heather Brae’s whilst driving to Church Stretton one Sunday afternoon. I spotted her array of eclectic pieces sprawled outside her shop and knew this was the place for me! The thing I love about Heather Brae’s is each time I visit; I know I will find something quirky. You have to be prepared to rummage, which for me adds to the excitement of the hunt!

The Store  is set in the middle of what I would call a large yard with two other stores on either side. T o the right, you will find ‘The Door Knocker company’ selling a selection  knobs and knockers and to the left, you will find Wilstone House & Garden where you can find  Antique tribal candle stands,, Indian cupboards and huge burners for your garden.–  All shops together really compliment one another. Recently, to my delight, a great coffee shop has opened beside the shop selling the most divine food and truly scrumptious cupcakes.

Mary has been in the antique and styling business for over  35 years and has a wealth of knowledge. What amazes me about her is, she is so helpful to us mere novices and in her busy schedule, always finds the time to have a friendly chat.

Heather Brae’s is a one stop shop – you are guaranteed to be surprised at what you will find!

There is something about a year coming to an end; it starts to make you think about, what my goals are for the following year? What I want to achieve? We’ve decided to set out some realistic goals we would like to achieve for 2013. What’s yours?

One:      No more blagging… It’s time to start Blogging.

Creating blogs with creative photos and writing blogs that readers want to read. Blog 3 times a week keeping them relevant to qwerky.

Two:      It’s all about Individuality.

To continue to develop qwerky pieces with our own stamp on them.

Three:   Read all about it!

Start giving tips in weekly newsletters to our customer database.

Four:     Dare to be different.

Keep qwerky authentic.

Five:      Love what you do.

Continue to have a passion for what we do.

Autumn inside the home to us is throwing soft throws on your sofa and beds to snuggle up in. Getting your buckets/baskets filled with logs even if your not lighting your fire yet, they look really good! Colours we are loving right now are bottle green, orange and warm reds.

It’s the season to start cooking  nutritious soups and stews and baking all those scrummy cakes!

We have this Stag print hanging in our homes. Every time we look  at it, we Fall into a place  where there is mountains full of snow and a little log cabin. After a long walk with our families, we kick off our boots, put on our woolly socks,  snuggle up on the sofa  and drink hot chocolate by the fire   - Well… we can dream!

Anyway, to get the point, I had to share one of her tracks, have a listen…

REMEMBERING DAD…. on Father’s Day!

His big warm smile
His throaty laugh

How he dipped his scallions in his brown sauce
How he loved his chips and yours too!
How he loved his onion sandwiches and the tears rolling down your cheeks as you made them for him

How he looked when he got dressed up going out with Mam, in his suit and tie (I personally remember the red tie – it looked so good on him)
How he had that sly proud grin when you told him how great he looked
How he cried every Christmas dinner and how we all starting bawling with him (well I know I did)

How he loved his children
And adored his grandchildren

How he worked so tirelessly for us, mostly under the car, rather than in it
How he lives on in all of us and our children
WE LOVE AND THANK YOU DAD AND REMEMBER YOU THIS WEEK AND ALWAYS
